Don't be fooled, a longer length is very sexy... I personally love anything midi, it gives you that very classy, decent look. And midi is really in, not only in skirts, but also in dresses, jumpsuits etc. I'm wearing a loose floral top on a pencil cut midi red skirt. Also it's most times better to leave your neck bare when you are wearing a boob top, dress etc.

Cos u can't dictate to someone whether they shd wear a stripped top or floral on a skirt, it can be stripped, polka dot or floral, so it depends on the person. Its just like saying wear jacket on denim, not compulsory. As for me, her wearing a floral top on it, is super cool. And if she wore stripes, still going to be cool, polko dot, still cool. So it really depends on her and anybody else.
